Head of a Ptolemaic prince; diadem; Ptolemy XV Caesarion probably; Egyptian sculpture, Ptolemaic period end of the reigns of Caesarion and Cleopatra, circa 44–30 BC; head of a man with short hair tied with a headband crossed at the nape and falling at the ends to the neck; short, wide strands of hair protrude from under the headband onto the forehead; small face with regular features, straight nose widening significantly downward, prominent lips, clearly emphasized chin, large deep-set eyes, prominent eyebrows, small ears close-fitting to the head; upper fragment of a pilaster visible at the back with the head resting on it; materials: sculpture; dimensions: height 19.3 cm, width 13 cm, depth 17 cm; weight 7.532 kg., A carved stone head of a person shown against a plain light gray background, rendered in dark gray and black tones with patches of lighter gray and brownish weathering; the head has a rounded cap or hairband with textured short hair carved along the forehead and sides, defined eyes with shallow sockets, a straight nose, closed lips, and a smooth chin; the surface shows rough pitting and worn areas, and the base is a short cylindrical neck piece with a lighter ring at the bottom.
