Head of a Ptolemaic prince; diadems; Ptolemy XV Caesarion ruler of Egypt; 47–30 BC probably; Egyptian sculpture, Ptolemaic period end of the reigns of Caesarion and Cleopatra, 20.5, 44–30 BC; sculpture of a man with short hair tied with a headband crossed at the nape of the neck and falling at the ends to the neck. Short, wide strands of hair protrude from under the headband onto the forehead. The face is small, with regular features, a straight nose widening significantly downward, prominent lips, a clearly emphasized chin, large deep-set eyes, prominent eyebrows, small ears close-fitting to the head. The upper fragment of the pilaster is visible at the back, with the head resting on it. Material: Egyptian sculpture. Dimensions: height 19.3 cm, width 13 cm, depth 17 cm; weight 7.532 kg., A close-up view of a sculpted head in profile showing the left side of the face, ear, and back of the head. The surface appears rough and weathered with textured areas across the scalp and face. The head features a carved band around the forehead and a textured fringe of hair beneath it. The nose, closed eye, lips, and chin are visible in profile. The ear is detailed and slightly protruding. The sculpture sits on a small rounded base. Visible colors include dark gray, black, lighter gray highlights, and some small pale spots of beige or off-white.
