Statue of the goddess Sekhmet. Woman with a lioness's head seated on a throne, dressed in a long close-fitting veil. Hands on her knees; in her left hand the goddess holds the sign of life. At the front of the throne, next to the goddess's legs, a column of hieroglyphs on each side. Solar discs, uraei and carved sema taui motif on the sides of the throne. Inscribed hieroglyphs. c. 1390–1352 BC; New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty reign of Amenhotep III, Karnak. Sculpture. Height 240 cm, width 61 cm, depth 123 cm, weight 2300 kg., A dark gray stone statue of a seated figure with a feline head and an elongated headdress sits on a square base; the figure has a smooth torso with visible breasts, a long skirt draping over the legs, arms resting at the sides with hands placed on the thighs, and a stylized collar or wig framing the face. The stone shows surface wear and rougher chipped areas on one side of the skirt and arm, and a few lighter gray patches from abrasion. The base and the vertical supports beside the legs are also dark gray with similar wear, and the background is a smooth, neutral gray.
