Vessel, Egyptian pottery, clay vessel, conical-shaped vessel, widest at approximately 3/4 of its height. Quite wide, almost horizontal shoulders—slightly sloping. Wide, short, funnel-shaped neck widening towards the spout. Wide spout, flat in the upper part, slightly rounded at the bottom, slightly asymmetrical. Flat, asymmetrical bottom. Surface leveled. Lower part finished to approximately 2/3 of its height with a knife or similar tool. Outer surface and inner surface of rim and neck covered with a layer of dark red engobe. Vessel color: dark red. Vessel complete; surface eroded in many places, numerous clay chips on the rim. Ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC; Old Kingdom, Edfu. Vessel height 16 cm; diameter 8.6 cm rim, 10.7 cm body, 4.5 cm bottom., A single clay vessel with a rounded shoulder and a flared rim, shown centered against a plain gray background, has a rough textured surface with visible pitting and small dark speckles; the vessel is mainly terracotta red with patches of darker brown and small areas of lighter beige wear, and the background is a uniform medium gray.
