Caption
Votive female head, female head wearing a wreath, from under which lush locks of hair curl down the sides of the face to the neck. High forehead, large eyes, deep-set in relation to the nose, slightly convex with developed eyelids and eyeballs, in which the pupils are marked. The nose is small and straight, the mouth is narrow, slightly parted, with fleshy lips. Strong chin, slightly protruding forward. Slim cheeks, giving the face a triangular outline. 3rd–2nd century BC, Etruria, votive. Height 26 cm, width 21 cm, depth 13 cm, weight 2 kg., A sculpted head made of a terracotta-colored material sits against a gray background, showing a stylized face with carved eyes, a straight nose, and closed lips. The hair is rendered in wavy, curled locks that frame the forehead and sides of the face, with textured, slightly rough surfaces and subtle variations in the terracotta tone. The neck and base are visible, with a rounded collar-like bottom and similar earthy coloration, and there are areas of small surface irregularities and faint darker patches on the material. The overall colors visible are terracotta, brownish-orange, muted reddish-brown, and gray in the backdrop.
