Description: The head of a young man is clearly turned to the left in a dramatic manner. The head is reflected at the base of the neck. The face is oval; the skeletal structure is not emphasized. The mouth is prominent, with slightly parted lips. The nose is straight, reflected at the tip. The eyes are almond-shaped, deep-set; the eyebrows are expressive, protruding strongly above the eyeball. The forehead is flat, low, and covered with lush locks of hair. Hairstyle: loosely arranged, slightly curled locks; above the forehead, shifted off-axis to the right, a lock of hair radiates outward, slightly raised and clearly different from the other locks. At the back of the head the hair is arranged in wavy locks, with only the lower part freely arranged. Date: 140–160 AD previously dated 150–160 AD. Findspot: Rome via Nomentana. Medium: sculpture. Dimensions: height 19.8 cm, width 16.1 cm, depth 14.2 cm; weight 8.5 kg., A carved stone head shown in profile mounted on a dark green mottled square base, with curly carved hair and a smooth facial surface; colors visible include off-white and beige tones in the head, white highlights in the hair details, dark green and black in the base, and a neutral gray background.
