Stamped transport amphora with a Greek inscription Argeio — transport amphora with a pointed bottom and a conical belly, rounded at the sloping shoulders, merging into a cylindrical long neck slightly bulging under the annular rim. The neck is stamped; letters arranged in two rows reading Argeio. Ribbon-like handles protrude from the shoulders and run straight up, bending in an arc where they join the neck under the spout. A rectangular stamp with deeply recessed letters in two rows is impressed on the upper part of the neck; the stamp likely refers to the maker or an official. Eponymous-manufacturer's stamps; trade/transport vessel; Greek pottery, ancient pottery, stamps. Dated 400–390 BC. Origin: Heraclea Pontica Bithynia; found in Olbia. Vessel type: transport amphora. Weight 6.326 kg; height 63 cm; diameter 26.5 cm., A tall, narrow vessel with a tapered pointed base and a rounded shoulder, made of a coarse, sandy material in shades of light brown and tan, with subtle darker brown speckles and small lighter flecks across its surface; the neck is elongated and cylindrical with a flattened ridge running vertically along one side, and the rim is slightly flared and uneven; the surface shows faint horizontal tool marks and areas of slight discoloration, and the background is a smooth gradient of gray.
