Black-finished aryballoid lekythos coated with black varnish. The medium, flat foot flows directly into the bulging body, which is significantly widened in its lower section. The nearly horizontal arms flow into a slender neck ending in a significantly widening, cup-shaped rim. The handle is attached at the transition from the body to the arms and below the cup-shaped rim. The body bears an engraved ornament of long, vertically arranged petals. Good condition, with minor damage to the varnish; the neck is cracked and glued. 4th century BC, Attic, Greek pottery — vessel lekythos., A single dark vessel with a rounded body and a narrow neck topped by a flared rim, shown against a plain gray background; the vessel has a curved handle connecting the neck to the shoulder and vertical rib-like grooves on its body; the surface shows small scuffs and worn spots revealing a reddish-brown underlayer beneath the dominant black finish; visible colors include black, gray, and reddish-brown.
