Black-finished aryballoi lekythos, Greek black-glazed pottery. Aryballoi lekythos coated with black varnish. The medium, flat foot flows directly into the bulging body, which is significantly widened in its lower section. The nearly horizontal handles flow into a slender neck ending in a significantly widening, cup-shaped rim. The handle is attached at the transition from the body to the handles and below the cup-shaped rim. The body bears an engraved ornament in the form of long, vertically arranged petals. Good condition, with minor damage to the varnish; the neck is cracked and glued. 4th century BC, Attica, vessel, lekythos., A single dark-colored vessel with a rounded, bulbous body and a narrow neck topped by a flared rim sits centered against a plain gray background; the vessel appears mostly black with subtle darker and lighter areas, a few small brownish spots and a thin brown band at its base, and its surface shows gentle vertical grooves and a smooth, slightly reflective finish.
