Transport amphora, trade amphora, 3rd quarter of the 4th century BC, Mende Greece. Vessel transport amphora made of ancient Greek ceramic; height 71 cm, diameter 33.5 cm. The walls of the body separate gently up to 2/3 of the height, then round markedly toward a long neck. The rim is defined by a profile and rounded into a cylindrical form. Flattened roller handles attached at the height of the rim fall vertically toward the narrowing of the body. Fingerprints present where the handles are attached on the body., An elongated, narrow-necked clay vessel with a pointed base and a flaring lip, shown upright against a neutral background; it has a pair of curved vertical handles attached near the rim and shoulder, a smooth rounded shoulder that tapers to a conical lower body, and a slightly flared mouth. The surface shows earthy tones of brown, tan, and muted orange with areas of lighter beige and subtle darker spots and smudges, along with a few small rough patches and speckles in similar natural colors.
