Votive head, Head of a young man covered with a shawl, from under which hair emerges in the form of a fringe and falls in curls below the temples, covering the ears. Large, wide-open, convex eyes; large, straight nose; narrow mouth with wide, slightly curled, as if pouting lips. The face with a strong chin alludes to classical traditions. 4th century BC, Central Italy, votive offering. Height 27.3 cm, width 20.5 cm, depth 18.5 cm, weight 3.5 kg., A carved stone head with a rounded top and a broken edge on one side sits against a plain gray background; the surface is sandy tan with darker speckling and small lighter flecks, showing carved facial features including shallow eye sockets, a defined nose with some surface damage at the tip, softly contoured lips, and a smooth neck that rests on a flat base; hair is indicated by shallow grooves and a few textured curls at the temple, and the stone shows areas of roughness and small pits throughout, with the whole object reflected faintly on the glossy surface beneath it.
