Amulet - djed pillar. Amulet in the shape of the djed hieroglyph, provided with a pillar at the back. At the top a trapezoidal projection decorated with vertical striations, below four crossbars. The top of the shaft provided with horizontal incisions. Protective amulet used in grave equipment. Late Period, Egypt, 664–332 BC. Amulet; height 9 cm, width 3.3 cm., An upright carved object with a tapered rectangular shaft and a stepped top, showing a textured surface with a patina of pale green and brown; the top has a series of horizontal ridges and a rounded crest with vertical striations, the neck area displays several narrow encircling grooves, and the base flares slightly with worn edges and mottled spotting in shades of green, brown, and beige.
