Vessel, Egyptian pottery, ceramic clay vessel; a conical vessel, widest at approximately 3/4 of its height. The shoulders are quite wide, almost horizontal—slightly sloping. The neck is wide, short, funnel-shaped, widening towards the spout. The spout is wide, flat in the upper part, slightly rounded at the bottom, slightly asymmetrical. The bottom is slightly convex, asymmetrical. The surface of the vessel is even. The lower part has been worked to approximately 2/3 of its height with a knife or similar tool. The outer surface and the inner surface of the rim and neck are covered with a layer of dark red engobe. Vessel color: dark red. Vessel complete; surface eroded in many places, numerous clay chips on the rim. ca. 2686–2181 BC, Old Kingdom, Edfu; height 16.7 cm, rim diameter 9.5 cm, body diameter 13 cm, bottom diameter 8.1 cm., A single ceramic vase with a wide flared rim, a narrow neck, a rounded shoulder, and a tapered body is shown against a plain background; the vase is primarily reddish-brown with a weathered surface showing a few areas of lighter beige where the outer layer has worn away, and there are subtle variations in the reddish-brown tone across the body along with small darker spots and scuffs.
