Medum-type bowl, Egyptian pottery, Medum-type bowl, clay vessel. Bowl with a hemispherical shape, narrowing just below the rim to form a carination; rounded bottom and a straight, slightly widening spout whose diameter is slightly larger than that of the shoulders. Surface even, covered with a red engobe and polished. Vessel color: red. Fairly well preserved with minor losses on the rim. Date: c. 2494–c. 2181 BC, Old Kingdom, 5th–6th Dynasty, find location Edfu. Function: vessel. Dimensions: height 7 cm; spout diameter 26.4 cm; weight 0.90 kg., A shallow, broad clay bowl with a rounded underside sits supported by a clear cylindrical stand; the bowl is primarily reddish-brown with lighter worn areas and a few small patches of tan where the surface is chipped, and the background and surface beneath the bowl are shades of gray.
