Jug, medium-sized biconical clay jug. Vessel widest at about half its height with wide shoulders and a wide, almost cylindrical neck that widens toward the spout; neck height about one-third of total. Profiled, irregular spout slightly raised and extended on one side forming a small secondary spout; spout nearly triangular in cross-section with a circa 1 mm cylindrical bulge on the outer profile. Bottom almost flat, very slightly rounded. Made of Nile clay NB1 ? — Vienna System. Neck likely made separately and joined to the shoulders. Outer surface leveled, covered with an engobe and polished; inner surface leveled except for the neck, which is also engobed and polished. Color reddish-brown. Quite well preserved; rim slightly chipped in two places and outer engobe worn in spots. Analogous to a similar jug from Edfu; dated to the 6th Dynasty Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC. Dimensions: height 20.5 cm; rim diameter 8.5 cm; body diameter 17.3 cm; bottom diameter 10.9 cm., A single pottery vessel with a rounded body that tapers toward a narrower base and rises to a short, flared neck; the surface shows worn, slightly rough texture with small scratches and patches of lighter wear; the vessel is predominantly reddish-brown with areas of lighter brown and small dark specks, set against a flat gray background.
