Orientalising pyxis with an animal frieze in the Silhouette style, images of animals, Middle Corinthian period, cats. Thin-walled pyxis with a straight rim, slightly concave body walls, and a flat bottom. Small vices mounted horizontally just near the edge of the rim. The main decorative band, bounded at the top and bottom by a thin line of varnish, depicts figures of animals executed using the silhouette technique. Between the silhouettes there are simplified filling ornaments. The surface shows painted black decorative bands and motifs, including stylized animal silhouettes and abstract shapes encircling the midsection, a band of alternating dash-like marks along the lower edge, and a dotted band near the rim. The vessel’s beige clay shows irregular darker spots and wear, and the black paint appears faded and uneven in places. The lighting is even, casting a soft shadow beneath the object, and the overall color palette includes beige, black, and shades of gray.
