Pyxis with a duck motif. Vessel of yellowish clay with brown matte paint and brown varnish; flat bottom, walls slightly flaring to a profiled rim. Banded decoration: upper band shows a row of birds ducks striding right in silhouette with lowered heads and raised wings, with dotted rosettes between pairs; lower decoration enclosed in two wide dark bands consisting of two stripes of watered firnis and a zigzag line. Colors: clay 10 YR 7/2–10 YR 7/4 light gray to very pale brown; varnish 2.5 YR 2.5/1 black; red paint 2.5 YR 6/3 light reddish brown. Covered with brown firnis. Attributed to Boeotia; early 7th century BC. Pyxis container. Dimensions: depth 5.5 cm; diameter 7.3 cm; wall thickness 0.4 cm; height 6.5 cm; width 8.8 cm; weight 0.098 kg., A round shallow bowl viewed from above with concentric rings and a worn surface, showing a central lighter area surrounded by darker circular bands; the rim is chipped and textured. The visible colors include shades of beige, tan, brown, black, and gray, set against a solid medium-gray background.
