Pyxis with a duck motif. Vessel of yellowish clay covered with dark brown matte varnish; upper band shows a row of birds ducks striding right in silhouette with lowered heads and raised wings, pairs separated by dotted rosettes. Below the birds, decoration enclosed by two wide dark bands consisting of two stripes of watered varnish and a zigzag line. Profiled rim, flat bottom, walls slightly flaring toward the rim. Banded decoration; painted with black varnish and light reddish-brown paint. Early 7th century BC attributed. Boeotia. Pyxis container. Dimensions: depth 5.5 cm; diameter 7.3 cm; wall thickness 0.4 cm; height 6.5 cm; width 8.8 cm; weight 0.098 kg. Clay colour: 10 YR 7/2–10 YR 7/4; varnish colour: 2.5 YR 2.5/1; red paint: 2.5 YR 6/3., A cylindrical ceramic vessel with a slightly flared rim sits against a neutral background. The vessel shows a base color of beige or light tan with painted decorative bands in dark brown and black. Near the top there is a darker brown rim followed by a band with small clustered dot motifs and angular shapes in black. Below that are several horizontal brown bands and a wavy black line running around the middle. The surface shows some areas of wear and subtle cracks, and the overall color palette includes beige, tan, brown, and black.
