Fragment of a brick with a cuneiform inscription, impressed with a stamp; fragment with 6 lines of archaized cuneiform recording an inscription of Neo-Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II Nabu-kudurri-usur, reign 604–562 BC. Associated names/places in the inscription: Esagila temple of Marduk, Babylon and Ezida temple circle, Babylon. Neo-Babylonian period, 604–562 BC. Possibly from Babylon or Borsippa. Material: brick; weight 344 g; width 11.8 cm; height 8.6 cm; thickness 3.2 cm., A rough, irregularly shaped block of hardened material with a coarse, pitted surface, shown against a plain neutral background; the block displays a predominantly sandy yellowish-brown color with areas of darker brown and small patches of reddish tint on the upper surface, and its surface bears shallow incised marks and linear grooves forming geometric patterns; the edges are uneven and chipped, and the underside casts a soft shadow on the background.
