Votive stele with the sign Tanit, unknown Carthaginian workshop. Upper part of a stele with acroteria. The triangular pediment of the stele is separated from its shaft by a schematic frieze composed of four triglyphs and four metopes. In the triangular field is an engraved representation of a banner with ribbons, placed between the acroteria. In the centre of the stele is a representation of a sign interpreted as the sign of the goddess Tanit; on the pediment a banner. All decoration made with engraved lines. 3rd–2nd century BC. Carthage place of finding and origin. Stele; height 15.5 cm, width 10.8 cm, depth 3.9 cm, weight 0.99 kg., A roughly triangular stone slab with a textured, weathered surface in shades of gray and beige, carved with simple geometric incisions including a large triangle near the bottom, a horizontal band above it, and a few arch-like curved lines; the top narrows to a pointed peak with irregular edges and a small carved circular shape near the summit, and the stone shows rough chips and uneven surfaces with subtle variations of light and darker gray and beige tones throughout.
