Olpe type of jug for liquids with inscription, unknown Attic workshop; Crito ca. 550–500 BC inscription/artist. Black-finished olpe with a clay-coloured cartouche at the point of maximum diameter bearing Crito's signature KRITONE POIESEN Kriton made it. Medium-sized olpe, rim edge slightly turned outwards; low neck gently transitioning into a concave, spherical belly clearly distinguishable from a low conical foot with a recess; bottom slightly convex. Profiled handle shaped with clearly distinguishable edges. On the inner side of the rim two clay nodules one reconstructed are visible, located 4.5 cm apart on the side of the handle. Greek ceramics; pottery marks; Greek inscriptions. 550–500 BC. Origin: Attica, Athens. Olpe vessel. Height 26 cm; width 13.5 cm; depth 15.5 cm; weight 0.58 kg., A single tall ceramic jug with a curved handle attached near the rim and upper body stands against a plain light gray background; the jug has a glossy black surface with areas of exposed terracotta where the black coating is chipped or worn, especially along the rim, handle, shoulder, and base, and there are a few thin horizontal bands of the exposed terracotta around the midsection; the handle is slender and looped with visible wear revealing patches of terracotta, the body is rounded and slightly tapered toward a flared foot that shows irregular patches of terracotta, and the overall surface displays scattered small chips and speckles of the underlying terracotta.
