Red-figure kylix with a bathing scene, the Boots Painter ca. 460 BC. Bath iconography; Greek ceramics. Physical description: goblet with slightly parted rim edges, shallow bowl, low stem, and flat foot. Vices have a round cross-section, slightly raised tops reaching the line of the rim. Conical bottom. Sleeve-shaped foot. Scene: Women wash at lutrions bowls on high bases, pass around folded garments, and one of them ties the characteristic high boots. Technology: Thick, very good quality varnish, evenly distributed. Smooth surface. Traces of turning invisible, brush marks visible. Mixture: mica. Condition notes: Artifact glued from many fragments; visible conservation restorations; surface contaminated; visible secondary losses and chips; standing surface heavily worn. Dimensions: height 9.2 cm; width 29.8 cm; depth 22.8 cm; weight 0.53 kg., A shallow, footed ceramic bowl with a pair of horizontally curved handles, mainly black with areas of worn orange-brown where the surface has flaked; the exterior rim area shows a painted orange-brown scene against the black background depicting human figures in profile, some leaning or bending, with stylized hair and limbs, and a few additional objects or shapes between them; the pedestal and base are black with more patches of exposed orange-brown clay, and the handles and interior rim also show similar wear and color contrast.
