Appliqué in the shape of Silenus's head, The head of a bearded Silenus wearing a round cap with two diagonal folds on top, pulled slightly over a slightly receding forehead with four vertical wrinkles above the nose; designed on one side with a recess on the opposite side. Eyes set under prominent eyebrows are deep-set and very narrow with only the upper, thick eyelids visible. The nose is very short, sunken at the base, wide, and flattened at the nostrils. Small mouth with straight lips, lower slightly undercut, framed by two wide strands of mustache that connect to closely trimmed facial hair marked by a thickened surface and several incisions. Slim, sunken cheeks with prominent cheekbones. 4th–3rd century BC, Etruria Italy. Appliqué; height 3.2 cm, width 2.3 cm, depth 1.2 cm; weight 0.046 kg., A worn sculpted face in profile made of a rough, mottled material showing green, brown, dark gray, blue, orange, and beige tones, with textured, uneven surfaces and visible pitting, attached to a metallic, gold-colored curved rod extending from the back; the background is light gray.
