Appliqué in the shape of Silenus's head, The head of a bearded Silenus wearing a cap, designed on one side with a recess on the opposite side. The round cap has two diagonal folds on top running from the forehead to the sides and is pulled slightly over the slightly receding forehead with four vertical wrinkles above the nose. Eyes set under prominent eyebrows are deep-set and very narrow, with only the upper, thick eyelids visible. The nose is very short, sunken at the base, wide, and flattened at the nostrils. The small mouth with straight lips, the lower slightly undercut, is framed by two wide strands of mustache connecting to closely trimmed facial hair, marked by a thickened surface and several incisions. The slim, sunken cheeks have prominent cheekbones. 4th–3rd century BC, Etruria. Appliqué; height 3.2 cm, width 2.3 cm, depth 1.2 cm, weight 0.046 kg., An irregularly shaped small object with a rough, pitted surface in a mix of green, blue, brown, and gray tones, containing a shallow cavity filled with a glossy yellowish substance; a rectangular metallic piece in a dull gold color rests across the cavity; there are a few spots of red on the outer rim and some areas of white residue.
