Jug, Cypriot pottery, Base Ring Ware I. Jug with an echinus-shaped foot; a biconical, slightly rounded belly; a high and narrow neck terminating in a funnel-shaped, flared spout. The neck is mounted at a slight inclination from the plane of the foot. Ribbon-shaped handle mounted two-thirds up the neck and to the arms of the vessel; at the neck it merges into a double plastic ring surrounding the neck. Pinkish clay, brown surface, in places fading to a brick-red hue. Surface heavily rubbed, slight loss of the rings on the neck. 1600–1450 BC, Cyprus. Vessel; height 12.3 cm, diameter 6.7 cm., A round vessel with a short neck and a funnel-shaped opening viewed from above, showing a smooth rim and a dark interior, with a single handle extending from the body; the surface appears worn and textured with mottled tones of brown, tan, gray, and hints of ochre against a neutral gray background.
