Jug, Cypriot pottery, Base Ring Ware I, 1600–1450 BC. Jug with an echinus-shaped foot; a biconical, slightly rounded belly; a high narrow neck terminating in a funnel-shaped, flared spout. The neck is set at a slight inclination from the plane of the foot. Ribbon-shaped handle mounted two-thirds up the neck and to the vessel body; at the neck it merges into a double applied ring surrounding the neck. Pinkish clay with a brown surface, locally fading to a brick-red hue. Surface heavily rubbed, slight loss of the rings on the neck. Origin: Cyprus Nea Paphos excavations. Vessel; height 12.3 cm, diameter 6.7 cm., A worn, weathered clay vessel with a rounded bulbous body tapering into a long narrow neck and flared rim, showing a rough textured surface with patches of muted brown, tan, gray, and darker sooty areas, with a small raised ring detail on the neck and an uneven base.
