Oil lamp with an image of Helios. Single-burner Roman oil lamp, Broneer Lamp type XXVII C, made from a mold. Round, flat container with smooth, flat arms; one arm has an ingot. Vertical vice opposite the burner decorated with two grooves. Round, slightly concave discus bounded by three concentric grooves; center bears a bust of Helios. Next to the bust is a round olive hole made after molding. Burner short, incorporated into the arms, round Bussière type 2b, blackened. Bottom and part of the burner are broken. Light clay may indicate production in Corinth Bernhard suggested an Eastern workshop. 1st century; oil lamp., A small beige clay vessel with a rounded body and a raised rim, showing rough and pitted surface texture and a few chips and cracks; one end has a flat, ear-like extension with a circular hole, and the opposite rim end is darker with soot-like dark gray discoloration; the vessel rests against a neutral gray background and displays subtle variations of beige, tan, light brown, dark gray, and small spots of reddish tones.
