Shield boss, Bosporan workshop; round shield boss with a regularly convex central part, surrounded by a narrow plane decorated with an incised meander ornament and with four round holes arranged symmetrically; another narrow plane undecorated and diagonal, flowing into a low vertical edge; militari?/edged weapons/shields; 6th–5th century BC; Black Sea areas place of origin, weight 0.166 kg., A round, shallow metal object viewed from above with a weathered, pitted surface showing a mix of green, pale green, tan, brown, and hints of blue; the rim is slightly raised and shows darker green along the edge; there are a few irregular areas of crusty corrosion and flaking where tan and pale green meet; several small, roughly circular holes are set near the perimeter with darker brown interiors and surrounding darker discoloration; the center is slightly depressed and smoother in texture with mottled tan and green speckling.
