A hole is drilled through the longer diagonal side walls transverse to the longitudinal axis of the stamp. On a flat base is carved a shallow geometric ornament consisting of regularly spaced, slightly open hooks: two large hooks with their tips touching in the center and four small hooks in triangular fields between the arms of the large hooks. Halaf culture, c. 6th–5th millennium BC. Northern Mesopotamia Iraq, Syria, Turkey. Seal.
