Bull-headed protoma, vessel decoration, unknown Urartian workshop. Stylized bull's head with linear details: large convex eyeballs surrounded by a straight line; two horizontal lines mark the nostrils. Small, protruding ears plastically modeled; schematically chipped horns slightly curved upward. Neck slightly elongated with a triangular bulge at the front. Rectangular cutout at the rear bottom served to mount the protoma on the rim of a cauldron. Typical Urartean cauldron decoration. 8th–7th century BC Urartu, ca. 850–585 BC. Near East; Urartu. Decoration. Weight: 134 g., A sculpted animal head with horns displayed against a plain light gray background, showing a patina of brown and reddish-brown with darker spots and hints of greenish corrosion, smooth rounded horns curving upward, small rounded ears at the sides, carved facial features with closed eyes and a pronounced snout, and a tapered elongated lower portion mounted on a clear vertical support.
