Jug, Bronze Age Cypriot White Painted I Middle Cypriot period II–III, 1800–1650 BC. Jug with large oval flattened belly, indistinct foot, sloping shoulders, low narrow neck with thickened outer edge of spout. Small cylindrical vertical handle attached to shoulders and spout, protruding slightly above upper edge of spout. Orange-cream clay with cream engobe; painted geometric decoration in brown. Neck: zigzag bands of three parallel horizontal lines between each band highest at edge of spout. Body: vertical stripes bounded by lines; centers of sides show a single-line zigzag; between them two zigzags with a grid pattern, four meshes wide. Bottom: continuous horizontal line intersects lines delimiting the fields. Condition: slight loss at rim; surface heavily worn and decoration poorly preserved in many areas. Origin: Nea Paphos, Cyprus., A rounded, egg-shaped ceramic object with a rough, sandy surface in beige and light tan tones, showing faded brown decorative markings and smudges, set against a plain light gray background.
