Jug, Bronze Age Cypriot White Painted I jug 1800–1650 BC; Middle Cypriot period II–III, from Cyprus. Large oval flattened belly, indistinct foot, sloping shoulders, low narrow neck with thickened outer edge of the spout. Small cylindrical vertical handle attached to shoulders and spout, protruding slightly above spout edge. Orange-cream clay with cream engobe; painted geometric decoration in brown. Neck: zigzag bands of three parallel horizontal lines between each band highest at spout edge. Body: vertical stripes bounded by lines; centers of sides feature a single-line zigzag; between them two zigzags with a grid pattern four meshes wide. Bottom: continuous horizontal line intersects the delimiting lines. Condition: slight loss at rim; surface heavily worn and decoration poorly preserved in many places., A rounded pottery jug with a narrow neck and a single curved handle, shown against a plain grey background; the jug has a textured surface in beige and light tan with areas of darker brown and faint reddish-brown painted patterns in a few places.
