Cypriot gourd jug, Excavations at Nea Paphos Cyprus. Cypriot pottery, Cypriot Bichrome Ware III. Small vessel with a barrel-shaped gourd-shaped body, without a foot, with a spherical bottom. On both shorter sides the center is marked with a small protruding point. A single ring-shaped handle on the longer side, mounted above half the height of the body and to the base of the neck, curved downwards. Quite long neck, strongly flaring, conical spout. Yellow clay with yellow-brownish engobe. Decoration in black-brown and matte red: the spout is decorated externally with a wide matte red band beneath which is a narrower black band; the belly is decorated on both sides with two groups of three concentric black-and-brown lines of varying widths and spacing, with the outer line in the groups on the shorter sides much wider than the others. Protruding points are marked in black-and-brown. 850–700 BC, Cyprus, vessel., An oval ceramic vessel viewed from above with a rounded body and a central funnel-like opening, showing a short handle protruding from one side; the surface is mostly beige with several horizontal dark brown bands encircling the body, and the rim and funnel interior show a slightly rough, textured beige; the background is a plain light gray.
