Cypriot gourd jug, Excavated at Nea Paphos Cyprus. Cypriot pottery, Cypriot Bichrome Ware III. Small vessel with a barrel-shaped gourd-shaped body, without a foot, with a spherical bottom. On both shorter sides the center is marked with a small protruding point. A single ring-shaped handle on the longer side, mounted above half the height of the body and at the base of the neck, curving downwards. Quite long neck, strongly flaring, conical spout. Yellow clay with yellow-brownish engobe. Decoration in black-brown and matte red: the spout is decorated externally with a wide matte red band beneath a narrower black band; the belly is decorated on both sides with two groups of three concentric black-and-brown lines of varying widths and spacing; in the groups on the shorter sides the outer line is much wider than the others. Protruding points are marked in black-and-brown. Dated 850–700 BC. Vessel from Cyprus., A rounded vessel with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a plain background; the vessel surface is mainly beige with areas of darker brown and black painted vertical bands running down the body and a darker brown band around the rim, the neck and handle area showing the same beige tone with some darker smudging, and the overall texture appears rough and weathered with small pits and surface irregularities.
