Tombstone of Marcus Julius Sistus with bilingual inscription, unknown Roman workshop; sepulchral funerary architecture, Greek inscriptions, Latin inscriptions, imperial freedmen. Rectangular marble slab with a very irregularly worked back surface. On the front surface are traces of numerous auxiliary lines vertical and horizontal, into which three lines of Latin text and three lines of Greek text are rather unevenly inscribed. Date: after 14 AD–end of 1st century 1st century. Place of origin: Italy, possibly Rome. Slab: height 42 cm, width 56 cm, depth 5 cm, weight 29 kg., A roughly rectangular block with an uneven, pitted surface showing a rough, weathered texture; the block displays a range of beige and tan tones with areas of light gray and small darker brown spots; the edges are irregular with one lower corner chipped, and the background is a smooth gradient of muted gray.
