Slab with a Latin votive inscription for Fortuna Conservatrix, Caius Iulius Maianus commissioner, Fortuna mythology, Latin inscriptions, baths, centurions, Germania Superior province, Roman legions. Limestone slab with a smoothed front surface and sides and a rather irregular back; upper left corner missing. Front surface carved with a 5-line inscription; letters were at one time outlined with red paint two types: darker in most letters and a lighter, very thick paint in the letter E in the second line. Dated 130–259/260. Type: slab, votive inscription. Dimensions: width 33 cm, height 18 cm, thickness 6 cm. Found at Bad Ems presumably in the baths of the Roman fort., A roughly rectangular stone slab with an irregular top edge sits against a flat gray background; the slab surface shows a rough, pitted texture with worn, uneven areas and small depressions, and its color palette includes beige, tan, light brown, off-white, and hints of pale gray, with a few slightly darker brown patches and some lighter whitish spots near the bottom edge.
