Fragment of a sarcophagus depicting a married couple, unknown Roman workshop; relief of marriage iconography; sarcophagus Roman, dated 200–220 formerly dated to the 230s of the 3rd century AD; Roman Empire 27 BC–476; materials and form: sarcophagus, height 73 cm, width 92 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 92 kg., A roughly triangular fragment of stone with an uneven, weathered surface occupies the image, showing a palette of beige, tan, light brown, and hints of gray with small darker brown speckles scattered across. The edges are irregular and chipped, with a visible break and a slightly protruding corner on one side where the interior texture appears coarser and more yellowish. The stone surface has subtle variations in tone and faint linear impressions, as well as areas that look smoother and slightly lighter near the top and bottom, and a few small spots of darker discoloration. The background is a smooth gradient of medium gray.
