Blade — sickle insert;, flint; Sumer; Uruk culture ca. 4000–ca. 3100 BC, 4th–3rd millennium BC; Southern Mesopotamia; tool sickle insert., A narrow irregular strip of material with rough, uneven edges rests against a flat gray background; the strip is a mottled beige and light tan with darker specks and small spots, and a few rough notches along one side give it a jagged outline, while a smudged darker area and subtle variations in texture are visible on its surface, and there is a vertical area of strong red pigment near the center.
