Appliqué in the shape of a Gorgon's head. Decorative appliqué for a tunic made of thin gold plate depicting the face of a Gorgon with its characteristic grimace – puffed out cheeks and protruding tongue. A large, round face with a low forehead, over which curled strands of serpentine hair fall. Large, oval eyes with marked pupils are set under strongly defined, arched eyebrows. The appliqué has four perforations on the edges used to attach it to a tunic. 5th–4th century BC, Greece, appliqué; height 2 cm, width 2.2 cm., A circular metallic object with a shiny gold color fills the center of the image, showing a raised three-dimensional face with prominent brow ridges, deep-set eyes, a broad nose, rounded cheek areas, and a tongue-like protrusion from the mouth; the outer rim has a beaded texture and irregular edges, and the object has small holes near the sides, all set against a white background.
