Red-figure patera-phiale depicting a woman with a fan and basket. Classified Gallo-Classical Scenography; female images iconographic. Southern Italian pottery from Apulia, 350–325 BC. Reddish clay with black varnish and numerous additions of white and yellow paint. A deep bowl with two vertical profiled handles on the rim, decorated with three decorative knobs topped by heads adorned with white rosettes. Funnel-shaped foot with upturned profiled rim; similar profiling on the vessel rim. Richly decorated interior: in a medallion framed by laurel-branch motif painted in white and an ornament of black chasing waves, a woman running left in a chiton carrying a basket and a fan. Flanking stylized plants and a rosette in the left field. Vessel type: patera; weight 1.144 kg., inscriptions/author unknown. Repossession Zabkowice Slaskie noted., A shallow ceramic bowl on a footed base with a wide rim, showing a group of small molded vertical handles or projections around the rim that have rounded tops; the surface shows bands of reddish-brown, orange, tan, black, and some lighter beige areas with worn and chipped spots revealing varied tones; the handles and rim have darker brown and black glazing with some lighter tan highlights and traces of wear; the foot and underside are predominantly black with reddish-brown and tan accents; the background is a flat light gray.
