Pyxis lid, 2nd century BC, Southern Italy, vessel lid, weight 0.25 kg, height 6 cm, diameter 10.9 cm, A worn shallow bowl-shaped clay vessel viewed from above with an outward-flaring rim and a wide flat base, showing an interior depression leading to a small central hole; the clay surface is mostly light tan with areas of darker tan and beige discoloration and white spotting, and there is a small paper label adhered near the rim with a patterned edge; the rim shows rough, chipped areas and some blackened spots, and the vessel rests on a neutral gray background.
