Fragment of a shabti. Head of a shabti figurine with rather carelessly rendered facial features, in a smooth wig and a thin beard. Celadon glaze. 332–30 BC; Ptolemaic Period. El-Kantara. Shabti, height 2.6 cm., A small sculpted head shown in profile against a neutral gray background, with a worn surface of pale green and turquoise tones mixed with areas of light beige and off-white, and traces of darker green and brown discoloration; the facial features are rounded and simplified with a prominent nose and small lips, a chipped lower edge, and a visible hair or headdress form that follows the skull and ends near the base; the texture appears grainy and eroded with cracks and small pitted areas, and there are a few spots of reddish and blue pigment on the side.
