Lamp with the Greek inscription C???? ??? ????? May he be my saviour; crosses at the beginning and end of the inscription. On the disc four Greek letters alpha arranged in the sign of the cross. Unknown Aswan workshop; 5th/6th century AD dating revised to 6th–7th century. The lamp's container is partly wheel-turned. The burner is very short and small. A small, band-type vise. The arms around the olive hole feature a beaded ornament enclosed in two circles. Below it is a convex imprinted inscription: Jesus, my savior. At its beginning and end are equal-armed crosses. The disk bears four convex letters Alpha arranged in the shape of a cross. The lamp's front surface is charred, and the underside is stained with oil. Found in Edfu; oil lamp; height 4.4 cm, width 7.6 cm, depth 6.8 cm., A small rounded clay object in shades of reddish-brown and dark brown rests on a light gray surface against a pale gray background; it has a curled handle-like protrusion on one side and a central circular depression on top surrounded by raised decorative ridges and rounded nodules, with areas of darker discoloration and surface roughness, and a few worn, raised shapes along the curved side.
