Bottle, Egyptian workshop, Coptic painted pottery, painted pottery, geometric decorations. Low, wide, annular foot; belly walls widely flared at the bottom, bent inward at approximately one-third of the vessel; neck reflected. Decoration painted in black and white, banded: below the neck a zigzag band painted in white with a diagonal black check motif; below that a strip of vertical lines painted alternately in black and white, framed by double black stripes. LRO type. Nile clay with low porosity and distinct golden mica flakes. 6th century, Egypt. Vessel: height 17.5 cm; body width 11 cm; outer rim diameter 8 cm., A single rounded ceramic vessel with a narrow top and a rounded body sits against a plain gray background; the vessel shows a terracotta base color with bands of darker brown and black painted decoration, including vertical elongated teardrop shapes and horizontal stripes, and areas where the surface appears worn or chipped revealing lighter and darker patches; the top has a faded crosshatched painted pattern and the foot is slightly flared and uneven.
