Bowl with a flat bottom, Islamic art, Arabic culture, Fatimid dynasty 909–1171. Arabic pottery, Egyptian pottery, household pottery for everyday life; fajumi vessel type, bowl with low walls and straight rim. Decoration: streaks of manganese pigment flowing from the rim edge, zigzag motif in the mirror referring to lettering; dark engobe on the reverse. 10th–12th century, Egypt, Edfu. Vessel; height 4.1 cm, diameter 12.0 cm., A shallow ceramic bowl with an irregular rim showing signs of wear, glazed interior with mottled beige and off-white tones and several dark brown to black blotches, outer surface in darker brown and gray shades with lighter worn spots, a chipped area on the rim and small surface cracks, all set against a plain light gray background.
