H.C. van der Hoek, Sampler worked in cross stitch in dark red silk on cream cotton with linen effect, marked HCVDHOEK, sampler embroidery needlework images silk cotton, textile embroidery cross stitch rectangular piece of bleached cotton with an indented linen effect in the thread. The cloth has hem edge of 0.4 cm wide. There is embroided on the lap in cross stitch with silk in dark red and in single thread. Two-thirds of the patch is embroided with stylized signboards and crowns and the lower part of the piece consists of an alphabet of 25 letters, the letter J is missing and below it series of numbers from 1 to 0 and below that HCVDHOEK embroided letter series and series and to each other, HCVD CORNER heraldry needlework
