Caption

In this early 1900s illustration, the Roman statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero is showing taking his case against the Roman politician/senator Lucius Sergius Catiline to the people of Rome. Cicero accused Catiline of conspiring to overthrow the Roman Republic in 63 B.C. Cicero delivered four orations, the first to the senate, the next two to the people, and the fourth to the people. Cicero also lay a trap for Cataline - with incriminating letters. As a result, Cicero had his proof and ordered Catiline and his co-conspirators executed.
