Victor Margueritte is a French literary man (1866-1942). Brother of Paul Margueritte, he concerned himself with social issues, an ardent defender of women's emancipation and of the coming together of all peoples. He held social opinions which were more and more advanced, and contributed to newspapers and periodicals of the international communist movement. In 1922, he published a work that was considered shocking at the time, resulting in the revocation of his membership in the Légion d'honneur (Legion of Honor).
