Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929). French journalist, writer and politician, opposed to the Empire. The amnesty of the Communards and the separation of Church and State were his first battles. Opposed to colonization, he pushed Jules Ferry to resign, several times. He represented the extreme left of the assembly. President of the Council from 1906 to 1909 and from 1917 to 1920.
