Edouard Herriot (1872-1957). French politician, member of the Radical Party. President of the Council from 1924 to 1925. Under Gaston Doumergue, he was repudiated by the State Council and forced to resign. Fervent defender of secularity. When he became President of the Council for the second time, his ministry lasted less than 48 hours. He was President of the Chamber of Deputies several times and recipient of the Soviet government's international peace prize in 1954.
